3Launch Producer Betty & Grant Permissions

Watch: Keep Window On Top & Tooltip toggles

Open Producer Betty from your Applications folder or Dock. Sign in with your Apple ID if prompted. On first launch, Betty will ask for permissions to work with Logic Pro.

Permissions Required: Betty needs Screen Recording and Microphone permissions. When you see a prompt like the one below, click Open System Settings to grant access.

⚠️ Important: After granting Screen Recording permission, quit and relaunch Producer Betty (⌘Q). This is required by macOS—without a restart, Betty cannot detect your project name and will show "Untitled Project".

4Run Your First Deep Scan

Watch: Quick Scan vs Deep Scan explained

Click "Deep Scan" to have Betty analyze your entire Logic Pro session. This is the handshake that creates your project's persistent brain.

🧠 What is Project Memory?

When you run a Deep Scan, Betty captures all your track names, instruments, and session structure. This information is saved to your Project Memory—a persistent record that Betty remembers across sessions.

  • Betty knows "Track 12" is your "Lead Vocal" without you telling her every time
  • Your conversations and notes are linked to the project
  • Re-open the project next week and Betty picks up right where you left off

Quick Scan vs Deep Scan

Quick Scan

Fast refresh of visible tracks. Use when you've made minor changes and want Betty to catch up quickly.

⚡ Takes a few seconds

Deep Scan

Full session analysis including all tracks, even those scrolled out of view. Run this on first launch or after major session changes.

5Choose Your Response Style

Betty can respond in different styles depending on how you like to work. Find the Output toggle in Betty's main window, near the voice input controls.

📚

Verbose

Full mentorship mode. Betty explains the "why" behind every recommendation, teaches concepts, and provides detailed context.

Example response:

"Your kick is sitting around -8dB which is a solid starting point. For this rock mix, I'd suggest bringing it up to -6dB to give it more punch. The reason is that rock drums typically need to cut through dense guitar layers..."

Best for: Learning, exploring options, understanding decisions

Brief

Quick cues mode. Betty gives you the essential information fast—values, actions, and direct answers without lengthy explanations.

Example response:

"Kick at -6dB. HP at 30Hz."

Best for: Fast workflow, experienced producers, quick checks

How to Change:

  1. 1Look for the Output section below the voice input
  2. 2Click Verbose or Brief to switch modes
  3. 3Your preference is saved automatically

Silent Mode

There's also a Silent option that disables Betty's voice output entirely. Text responses still appear, but Betty won't speak them aloud.

When to use Silent mode:

  • Recording vocals or acoustic instruments
  • Working late and don't want audio output
  • Prefer reading responses over hearing them

Voice Output Options

Betty can respond using different voice providers. Find these options in the voice settings area.

System Voice

Uses your Mac's built-in text-to-speech. Fast and works offline.

Betty's VoicePro

Natural AI voice with Betty's personality. Requires internet connection.

When to Switch Modes

📚Use Verbose when...

  • • You're learning a new technique
  • • You want to understand the reasoning behind a suggestion

💡 Pro Tip: Switch on the fly

You can switch between Verbose and Brief at any time during a session. Start in Verbose to understand Betty's approach, then switch to Brief once you're comfortable with the workflow.
